I love Rick Mercer. He always manages to get his point across in in such a way that makes you take notice.

This along with the melting ice caps and soon the American's won't have a workable stereotype for us anymore :-)

Something definitely needs to be done. And fast.

Ok, Rick Mercer is awesome. I just wish he was still on 22 minutes. I don't know whether to laugh out loud or be shocked, but this was pretty funny, haha. Seriously, we need to do something about global warming.

Finally! , now i can clean out all the polar bears from my bed room closet.

    Funny clip.
I think these comment boards would be much more interesting (and beneficial) if we could hear some opposing opinions. Any Harper supporters or skeptics should feel free to argue their case here!

This defiantly made me laugh. I'm going to send this clip to a friend of mine who doesn't believe the polar bears are dying because of global warming!

Very funny, but very scary at the same time. hopefully it will make more people believe that global warming is really affecting the polar bears.

    funny, but true...eek

Hey,so it's a silly little clip...but any media is good media. Even in An Inconvenient Truth there's a small cartoon of a polar bear looking for ice to rest on... a lecture or a cartoon, whatever gets the point across!

I sent this video to a lot of people. This is a good way to get the message of global warming out there and into people's minds, while making them laugh at the same time

I definately think Rick Mercer got his point across, but watching that vidoe i don't know whether to laugh or cry. It's a sad reality that people need to start thinking about and doing something about.

I had the same thought: laugh or cry...but my immediate reaction was to laugh!

The World Wildlife Fund has a thorough factsheet on polar bears: http://wwf.ca/NewsAndFacts/NewsRoom/factsheet_polarbears.asp.

I think the danger to polar bears is neglected when it comes to talking about global warming - they are a large carnivore and will therefore be one of the first and most devastatingly hit by the melting of the ice caps... we need to stop it before it goes that far!

I heard in a news story a few months ago that polar bears are actually turning to cannibalism due to a lack of food and ice. It is so alarming that our government officials do not seem to be alarmed about such a great species close reality of extinction.

Jody, I heard that same thing.
Cannabilism does and will occur if a species is backed into a corner with nothing else to eat but themselves. However I believe the problem with polar bears is not really finding enough food ( as there are plenty of seals etc), but rather the loss of ice due to global warming. The sad thing is I dont think global warming can feasibly be stopped as the damage is already done and I dont believe the citizens of the world will be able to stop burning greenhouse gases to an extent that will stop global warming. The best we can hope for is to slow the inevitable.
So is it really worth it to even try to fix an unfixable problem?

I really dont find this that funny just because it is so real. I understand that Rick Mercer uses his jokes to get his points across but I would thank that most of the people that watched this wouldn't think twice about it again.
