    It sounds like a great step in the right direction; it is about time the governments of the world did something about these growing problems.

    I agree. However, its too bad that it's taken so long, and a draft of the agreement is only going to be presented in 2009. It sounds like there will be at least a couple of years before the agreement is approved.

    On this subject, The National Geographic for April 2007 has a big feature on 'The Global Fish Crisis'. It looks at wasteful management practices, the Mediterranean bluefin tuna, New Zealand marine reserves, and effects of the collapse of the cod industry in a Newfoundland village. Also, the article, as always, has tonnes of 'captivating' images. Can be found on the magazine shelves of the reference room at the SMU Library.
